Marquartstein

VARIED HOLIDAY SPOT FOR YOUNG AND OLD

The climatic health resort of Marquartstein offers everything that makes vacation in the Achental so special. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Upper Bavaria between the summits of Hochgern and Hochplatte, directly next to the Tiroler Ache which flows into Lake Chiemsee just a few kilometers up north. In summer, you can enjoy the impressive panorama of the Achental on numerous hikes, cycling tours or while swimming in one of our lakes. The Hochplattenbahn cable car takes you very comfortably from the valley up to the mountain station of the cable car. Families and especially children love the “Bergwalderlebnisweg”, an adventure trail around the Staffen as well as the summer tobboggan run in the extensive and beautifully located “Märchenerlebnispark”, a fairytale adventure park in Marquartstein. In winter, the snow-covered landscape around Marquartstein will enchant you while winter hiking, cross-country skiing or tobbogganing. Marquartstein is a special experience any time of the year.

Schleching

THE MOUNTAINEERING VILLAGE IN THE ACHENTAL

The Mountaineering Village Schleching is deeply embedded into the beautiful mountains of the Achental. Surrounded by a dreamlike landscape with lush meadows, forested Alpine peaks and the rugged peaks of the northern Limestone Alps, this picturesque village is the ideal base for extensive hiking tours to and around the Geigelstein, which is also called the flowered mountain. The Geigelstein nature reserve is is still a real insider tip for hikers and nature lovers. The surrounding mountains also invite you to numerous tours. An action-packed rafting or kayaking tour on the Tiroler Ache is an adventure for the whole family. There is nothing left to be desired for climbers either. In winter, Schleching with its varied cross-country ski trails is an Eldorado for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Numerous ski tours lead through the beautiful winter landscape up to lonely peaks. Idyllic winter hiking trails run through the snow-covered nature of the Chiemgau Alps, which you can also discover with snow shoes.

Unterwössen

HOLIDAY IN ALL ALTITUDES

Unterwössen, beautifully situated in the heart of the sunny Achental valley between Lake Chiemsee and the mountains, invites you to a very special holiday experience. This is an ideal starting point to discover all the charms of the Achental. In the valley you can find idyllic hiking trails and flat bike routes that wind through the landscape. Along the Tiroler Ache, pasts forests and meadows, you will find numerous lovingly preserved farms with flower-decorated balconies and old farm gardens. On the mountains, rustic Alpine pastures and challenging climbs are waiting to be explored on foot, by mountainbike or by e-bike. A hearty Alpine snack at the finish is a reward for all the effort. High up on board of a glider: Float almost silently over a dreamlike landscape during a sightseeing flight at DASSU and enjoy the Chiemgau and Chiemsee region from a unique perspective. On hot summer days, Lake Wössner See and numerous gravel banks along Tiroler Ache provide cooling. An extraordinary experience is the tour to the Lake Taubensee, the highest lake in Germany.

Staudach-Egerndach

IDYLLIC HOLIDAY SPOT NEXT TO HOCHGERN

Staudach-Egerndach is the gateway to the beautiful Achental. For over 1.000 years, this region has not only been farmed by mountain farmers, but also offers numerous touristic attractions. The interplay of small lakes, remote moors, gentle valley meadows, dense mixed mountain forest, small Alpine pastures and summit meadows is unique. On the mysterious moor circle way, young and old can learn interesting facts about the local flora and fauna – or you can get to know the original gem from its most beautiful sides on a relaxed hike.

Mountaineering Village Schleching

NATURE TO ENJOY AND LINGER

The Mountaineering Village of Schleching is deeply embedded in the beautiful mountains of the Achental. Together with Sachrang in the Priental, the picturesque village is part of the selected group of Mountaineering Villages since July 2017 – an initiative of the Alpine associations of South Tyrol, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. Together with 24 other villages, they are actively commited to environmental protection and nature-based tourism in the Alpine region. The Mountaineering Villages all have a valuable asset in common: the pristine Alpine landscape and nature, living traditions, regional products of high quality, authenticity and plenty of space for mountain sports. All of this is rounded off with a population that lives and supports exactly these values.
