Description
Either after climbing up or using the chairlift, we walk from the mountain station along the signposted path towards the Piesenhausener Hochalm. This very well-developed forest path is part of the “E4” (European long-distance hiking trail “Pyrenees-Neusiedler See”) as well as the “Maximiliansweg” and the “Via Alpina”. On the way there, we want to climb up the “Alten Plattenweg” and turn right after about 800 meters. We soon reach the forest road and immediately after that the entrance to the left towards the Piesenhausener Hochalm. It is a relatively demanding path that requires surefootedness. At the end of the path, we get back onto the forest road. Turning right, we soon reach the Hochalm. The alpine pasture invites you to linger with drinks and traditional alpine food. The view of the Chiemsee, the Kampenwand, the Hochplatte and also the Schlechinger valley is breathtaking. On the way back we walk the short distance back to the old Plattenweg, but continue the hike towards Hochplatte. At the saddle of the Haberspitz, we could now climb to the right to the Hochplatte, but we go downhill, past the Plattenalm and finally reach the starting point of our hike.Refreshment options: Piesenhausener Hochalm, Staffn Alm
