Achental cross-country skiing paradise Ever since Bavaria’s first cross-country ski trail was groomed in the Chiemgau in 1964, the Chiemgau has developed into one of the best cross-country skiing regions. Over 500 km of well-maintained cross-country trails, mostly groomed in classic and skating style, are available to guests and locals free of charge. Everyone can decide according to their mood whether it should be the challenging cross-country ski runs with many ascents and descents or whether they prefer to enjoy gliding. If the weather doesn’t play along, you can have cross-country skiing fun on our high-altitude trails five months a year. You can also experience variety on our floodlit trails and at the biathlon taster course in the world-famous Chiemgau Arena. Preparation at the highest level! Well-groomed ski touring trails, 25 km classic and 20 km skating (free technique) are available to you with modern track equipment. Varied route through the beautiful winter landscape. We make you want more! Beginners as well as advanced skiers are in good hands at the local ski schools. Trained cross-country ski instructors not only teach the technique, but also have the most modern equipment available for hire. You can also take part in regular taster courses, which are offered for both techniques by the Nordic School in Achental!
