Roßalm
The Roßalm at 1,680 metres is one of the highest alpine pastures in Germany.
A hike to the Chiemgauer Roßalm takes you high up, as it is not only the highest alpine pasture in the Geigelstein nature reserve, but is also one of the highest alpine pastures in Germany. At 1,680 meters, the Roßalm lies between Weitlahnerkopf and Geigelstein below the Roßalpenkopf on a plateau called Tauron. In the summer season, small snacks with butter and cheese made on site are available here. A special feature of the Roßalm landscape is the presence of siliceous limestone, which forms particularly acidic soils. Specially adapted, rare flora thrives here, such as the spotted gentian.
Please note: For nature conservation reasons, the path from Weitlahnerkopf via Roßalm to Geigelstein is closed every year from April 1st to May 31st.
