Hochgernhaus

The Hochgernhaus is on the way to the Hochgern, which at 1,748 meters is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Chiemgau. The private mountain house at 1,461 meters is easy to reach from Marquartstein or Unterwössen. Once at the top, you can enjoy a hearty snack and a refreshing drink on the sunny terrace while watching the paragliders take off. From the Hochgernhaus’s viewing terrace, you can also enjoy a fantastic view of the Alps. If the weather is bad, you can spend cozy hours in the parlor with the large tiled stove. If you want, you can climb the summit from the Hochgernhaus – either on the same day or the next day, because you can stay overnight in the Hochgernhaus and experience a sunrise in the mountains. In winter, the Hochgernhaus is a popular destination for experienced winter hikers.
