Hefter-Alm
The managed Hefteralm in the Hochplatte hiking area is the perfect destination for a family alpine hike.
The Hefteralm is to the north-east of the Großstaffen. The alpine pasture belonging to the Grassauer Almen is a pasture area owned by the horse breeding cooperative for draft horses in Traunstein and is popular with hikers and mountain bikers. The hut keepers not only look after the many animals on the alp, but of course also the guests who stop by. Garlic cheese, cream cheese, wild garlic and chive cheese, alpine cheese, butter and buttermilk as well as yoghurt are all made in-house at the Hefteralm. You should also try the delicious mountain farmer’s bread made from home-made natural sourdough, which is baked on site in the bread bakery. The Hefteralm is easy to reach from a variety of directions and is a great hiking destination for families, because the cows, horses, goats, rabbits and chickens make many children’s eyes light up.
