    • Chiemgau Trail Run

      The Chiemgau Trail Run has been taking place since 2017 in and around Marquartstein in the Achental. With this popular Trail Running event many trail runners start their contest season in the Bavarian Alps. There are 4 distances to choose from – for beginners, but also for experienced trail runners.The event is accompanied by a great event for runners and spectators.

    • Wössner Pirate Play

      The traditional Wössner Pirate Play (Wössner Seeräuberspiel) is a very special spectacle! This play was performed in 1897 for the first time and is based on an old legend – it only takes place every few years. It is a real highlight: A colorful historical procession, rousing dance performances and the great pirate celebration is to be expected. Don’t miss it! The next Pirate Play takes place in 2025.

    • Maibaum put-up

      Lively customs: On May 1st, on many village squares in the Achental a so called Maibaum is put up. This custom is common in whole Bavaria and is based on an ancient tradition. The so called Maibaum is traditionally decorated and is pulled up only by brawn. The Maibaum put-up is usually accompanied by traditional brass bands and performances of traditonal costume associations.

    • Kirchweih

      “Kirchweih” – also called “Kirta” – is a firmly anchored tradition in the Achental. Every year anew the consecration of the church is celebrated. In Unterwössen, Kirchweih is celebrated on the third Sunday in October and traditionally there is the Kirta market, where various artisans offer their products and traditional food is offered.

    • Return from Alpine pasture

      The end of the so called “alm summer” is celebrated with the return from Alpine pasture (Almabtrieb). As a thank for the fact that summer on the Alpine pasture was free of accidents, the dairymen decorate the cattle with elaborate wreaths.

      A very special return from Alpine pasture is the one with the sheep in Unterwössen. The sheep are led from the Rechenbergalm to the valley.

    • Pilgrimage to Raiten

      Every year on Ascension Day a traditional pilgrimage takes place in the Achental. 23 traditional costume associations from the Chiemgau-Alpenverband make a common pilgrimage to the pilgrimage church “Maria zu den Sieben Linden” in Raiten, where a church service is celebrated.

    • Advent & Christmas

      The traditional Advent and Christmas time in the Achental is full of lively customs. In addition to traditional Christmas markets and Advent singing, also customs of firecrackers, searching for baby Jesus and many more Christmas events take place in the Achental. Experience a contemplative Christmas time in the mountains!

    CONCERTS IN THE ACHENTAL

    Experience real bavarian brass music! Every village in the Achental traditionally has its own brass band. Let yourself be entertained with lively and festive concerts. But the wind orchestras can do more than just mood music: Our excellently trained musicians often also strike up concertante notes for musical delights. The Alphorn players from Schleching and Marquartstein are also a particularly sonorous experience when they let their instruments sound.

    Lovers of classical music will also get their money’s worth in the Achental: at a concert on the Streichen, the music summer between Inn and Salzach or a concert evening at the Wolfgang Sawallisch foundation. Those who like it snappy or rocky should definitely visit a live concert of the Staudacher Musikbühne. Various artists regularly bring the Bavarian blues scene to life – including Boogie, Soul and Rock’n’Roll.
